
Summer Workshops
For the first time ever BANG! Academy of Performing Arts is offering Summer Holiday Workshops for aspiring actors and creators aged 6 – 18 years old! Choose to dip your toe or totally immerse yourself in the art of performance with the options of 1, 2, 3 or 4 days of structured dramatic play. The program is conducted by a range of industry professionals each experienced in their own specific field. There is something for everyone – Acting for Film, Voice and Movement Skills, Theatrical Storytelling and Awesome Drama Games. Workshops run from 9am to 3pm at the majestic A&I Hall in Bangalow, just 10 mins drive from Byron Bay. Workshop fees vary from $50 - $80 per day depending on how many days you attend.

Acting for Screen
Want to get into the film business baby?This could be your first step! Our Acting for Screen Workshop is comprised of two sessions - in the morning you will get the lowdown on how the film industry works from professionals working in it. From putting together the perfect showreel to the do’s and dont’s of on-set ettiquette, learn how the casting process works and maximise your chances of landing your dream job. The afternoon will consist of learning a short monologue, taking direction, and filming the work for use on your showreel.

Voice and Movement for Actors
The body and the voice are the essential instruments an actor needs to communicate meaning to an audience. Learn techniques which will develop your skills in both of these areas and extend yourself as an actor/performer. Identify where you are now and realise how much further you can go! This workshop is a brilliant introduction to the craft of acting.

Bringing Script to Life
A script is very often the blueprint for the end production, be it film or stage. This workshop will explore the techniques used and choices made by actors and directors to bring a script to life. Learn about objectives, beats, blocking and other stagecraft terminology. Discover how to use your imagination in the creation of character and confidently transition inner experience to outer expression.

Acting Bootcamp
Sounds hard work but it’s really lots of fun! Based on the Theatresports model, this day will focus on acquiring improvisation skills essential for acting, taught in the form of drama games. In the workshop you will learn about taking risks, working collaboratively and how to keep a straight face. Did we mention it’s awesome fun?
