BANG! Courses

We offer Acting & Musical Theatre classes in Bangalow for students aged 6-12yrs (Primary). Having the ability to think creatively and work collaboratively is what we encourage at BANG! Students will learn the dramatic techniques of characterisation, improvisation, physical theatre and script work alongside life skills such as group work, listening, taking direction and offering ideas and all while having a fun time! At the end of each term there will be a short 15 minute presentation for families to share what we have worked on through the term. All BANG! facilitators are industry professionals and are highly trained in their field within the Performing Arts. Most hold tertiary degrees in either Education and/or the Performing Arts! We value what we teach and love sharing what we know.!

Fees are $250/term/class. We have an Early Bird Special at the start of each term ($225). Classes are capped to 15 students, and we do offer a waitlist. New students at BANG! can come in for a trial class for free to see if they want to continue. Payments must be made by the end of the first week of term. There is also an annual admin fee per family ($50). If doing more than one class, we give a 20% discount. If more than one family member we also give a 20% discount.

Acting

Our Junior and Pre-teen Acting Course aims to build skills through improvisation, characterisation, movement and voice work while exploring their imaginations and storytelling. Collaborative group work is encouraged, along with script work, skill building games, problem solving exercises and performance. We create a positive risk taking environment, where trust is built between class members, support is given and creative exploration is nurtured. We welcome students with all levels of experience and skill. A short 15 minute performance will be presented to family and friends at the end of the last class of term. This small informal performance is hugely beneficial to the students, and also to the families. We keep costumes and props (if needed) to a minimum, and ask families to use/recycle what they have at home. Each class will have a term focus, which teachers plan for and all objectives are considered in line with the NSW Department of Education Syllabus for Drama, to allow for curriculum intersection and depth for our students.

Musical Theatre

Our Junior and Pre-teen Musical Theatre Course aims to build confidence and skills in vocal work, acting and movement. Storytelling through song is a focus, and students will be encouraged to explore different expressive qualities both vocally and physically. A wide range of musicals will be explored, allowing students to learn different styles, writing and choreography. Breathing techniques, phrasing, pitch work and melody/harmony will be explored for voice work. Stretching, strengthening, spacial awareness, partner work and ensemble work will be explored in movement. We welcome students with all levels of experience and skill. A short 15 minute performance will be presented to family and friends at the end of the last class of term.
